Arrive Ashgabat, Turkmenistan

Arrive in Ashgabat, the marble-clad capital of Turkmenistan. Private transfer to your hotel and an evening welcome briefing with your tour leader.

Ashgabat city tour

Full-day city tour including the National Museum, Independence Monument, and the ancient Parthian ruins of Nisa (UNESCO).

Ashgabat to Darvaza Gas Crater

Drive across the Karakum Desert to the Darvaza Gas Crater, known locally as the 'Door to Hell.' Camp overnight beside the crater and watch the flames light up the desert sky.

FCDO travel warnings
At present there are no warnings against travel to the parts of Uzbekistan we visit. Please familiarise yourself with the UK FCDO country advice at gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice.
Visa information
British, US, Canadian and Australian nationals do not currently require a visa for tourist visits. Other nationalities should check with the nearest Uzbek embassy.
Passports
Passport valid for at least six months after return, with two blank pages (ideally opposite each other).
Vaccinations & protection
Speak to your GP or a travel clinic. Typically advised: Diphtheria & Tetanus, Hepatitis A, Typhoid, Meningitis. A DEET-based insect repellent is recommended.
Travel insurance
Comprehensive insurance is a condition of booking — must cover medical expenses and emergency repatriation for the full duration of your trip.
Local conditions
Uzbekistan's tourist infrastructure has improved dramatically, but outside the main cities some accommodation and service standards may not match Western Europe.
